Hey everyone!
Why is this site here? Who am I?... What's going on?
Good question, I found myself musing over the ideas of religion and what it means in modern society, I found myself to be a solid 6 on the Dawkins scale (reference) and leaning toward 7 at times. I consider myself to be an ignostic, agnostic, atheist, anti-theistic, PastafarianThat is to say:
- I don't know if it is possible for myself or anyone to 'know' of a god or gods (reference)
- I don't know if there is a god or gods (reference)
- It is my opinion that to date all assertions that there is a god or gods is wrong (reference)
- It is, in my opinion that the negative connotations of religion are harmful, and I would prefer to not have such ideologies in the world (reference) *see note below.
- I found through Pastafarianism (reference) a group collective that at its heart has humanist (reference) tendencies, and as one of its precepts, seeks to oppose, by way of highlighting and mimicry the ridiculous nature of archaic religious superfluousness.
note: while I identify as anti-theist, this is an extension of the fact that I oppose the harmful acts wilful or otherwise which are brought about by those that adhere to a theistic dogma. I have no real reason to want to remove religion in total, merely the ongoing degradation of society which is allowed or reinforced within the scope of theism.
What follows in these blogs and some separate pages set aside for specific purpose, Is my collection of hopefully sound arguments made against those that I have engaged with on this topic.
By no means do I consider myself any form of mentor or of any considerable education in this field, but I like to do my best.
This is a collection of rantings which I've put together based on many different religious or philosophical interactions or self-musings.
